Do you feel lost when opening music production software?
Starting music production can feel overwhelming. You may not know where to begin, how to connect your equipment, or how to use the software in a simple and effective way.
In this final pilot workshop, offered free of charge, music production teacher Federico will guide you step by step through the essential foundations of music production. This session marks the conclusion of our pilot workshop series and is an opportunity to experience the program while helping us refine future editions.
You’ll learn how to set up your software, connect your equipment, and understand the key settings needed before you start creating.
Federico will demonstrate using Ableton Live, but you are welcome to bring and use other DAWs such as Logic Pro, Reason, or Cubase. The concepts apply across all major music production software.
By the end of the session, you’ll understand how to move from opening your software to creating your first simple track.
What we’ll work on
Installing and setting up your music production software
Understanding the basic interface and essential functions
Configuring audio settings correctly
Connecting your audio interface, headphones, and speakers
Connecting a MIDI keyboard or instrument
Preparing your session before starting production
Understanding the fundamental workflow of creating music
In the second part of the workshop, you’ll apply these concepts by creating a simple composition, with guidance and time for questions.
Ableton Live will be used for demonstration, but all concepts apply to Logic Pro, Reason, Cubase, and other DAWs.
Practical information
This workshop is Federico’s introductory workshop at Pacson Music School and is exceptionally offered free of charge as part of his pilot session.
At Pacson Music School, each new teacher begins with a pilot workshop. This allows students to discover their teaching approach and provides an opportunity to introduce their artistic and pedagogical perspective to the community.
Participants must bring their own laptop with a music production software installed (Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Reason, Cubase, or similar). This is required in order to follow the hands-on exercises and create your first composition during the session.
No prior music production experience is required.
Audio interfaces, MIDI keyboards, and other equipment will be available for demonstration.
