Meet Yovanny – Guitar, Sitar & World Percussion Teacher

Yovanny Adant is a Belgian-Colombian composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Brussels. His musical journey has been shaped by encounters, travels, and a deep curiosity for world music. From an early age, he developed a sensitive and open approach to sound, inspired by spiritual traditions, jazz, improvisation, and contemporary music.

While the guitar is his main instrument, Yovanny’s path naturally led him toward the Indian sitar, the udu, and a wide range of percussion instruments. This exploration became a true artistic language, where rhythm, listening, and vibration are at the heart of musical expression.

Yovanny followed a rich and cross-disciplinary training, moving between conservatories, academies, and oral traditions, notably at the Conservatory of Luxembourg and the Saint-Gilles Academy. Along the way, he studied with musicians from jazz, Indian, flamenco, and traditional music backgrounds, developing a musical vision that is both global and deeply human.

Today, Yovanny is an active performing musician, composer, and teacher. He regularly performs in Belgium and internationally, and collaborates with artists from India, the Middle East, Africa, and across Europe.

Yovanny’s teaching is rooted in listening, oral transmission, and the joy of playing. Inspired by living traditions of musical learning, he sees each student as unique and adapts his approach to their rhythm, personality, and musical goals.
